Anesthesiology Clip Art Library
Interactive computer based educational materials offer a number of
advantages over traditional materials. A supply of clip art ready to
be included in multimedia components may be helpful to authors of
electronic documents, who may not have access to the equipment needed
to digitize sound or images. GASNet has established a
library for anesthesiology text, diagrams, pictures, sounds and
digital video that can be used in educational materials. The files
stored in this library are available via the Internet using either
FTP or the Internet Gopher.
Use
Anyone may use the files contained in the library. There are a
few restrictions:
- You must include credit to the library and the original
contributors in all works created with images or data from the library.
- You may not sell or distribute images or data from the library
except as part of another complete work.
- You must maintain any copyright notices of the original contributors.
You may use images or data from the library in handouts, slides and
computer programs at no cost.
How To Get the Files
To access the images and data in the library, you must have access to the
Internet and ftp client software. The anesthesiology clip art library is
is available by anonymous ftp
togasnet.med.yale.edu.
Submissions
Submissions are actively encouraged! Our goal is to increase the
quantity and quality of materials for medical education. Here are some
guidlines:
- Submissions are accepted by anonymous ftp and should be left in
the directory "/pub/incoming".
- All file formats will be considered for distribution, but file formats
that can be read by a wide variety of computers are desirable.
- Lossless image compression (i.e., GIF or TIFF format) is desirable.
- Please use descriptive file names, including file name extensions
that identify the file format e.g., "syringes.gif".
- Please include a short text file with your name and a description
of the content. This file can have the same name as the data file with
the extension ".txt". In this file, please explicitly state that you
are giving permission for the file to be distributed subject to the
restrictions stated above.
- Consider including a thumbnail view of large images or video clips.
- Consider submitting the same data in multiple formats. (i.e., a
video may be submitted in MPEG and AVI format.)
- Make sure that you own the work before you submit it!
By placing files into the library, you agree to allow anyone to use
them subject to the restrictions listed above.
